Work injury solicitors attempt to secure payout for widow who lost her husband to fatal crush injuries caused by numerous health and safety breaches.
Work injury solicitors are attempting to secure compensation for a woman left widowed by a fatal workplace accident at a Sheffield steel firm in 2012.
A hearing at Sheffield Crown Court last year heard that numerous breaches of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 led to the delivery driver and father-of-three being crushed by a three-tonne consignment of steel tubes.
“The prosecution by the HSE has highlighted how a series of unacceptable and wholly avoidable safety failings led to [the worker’s] death,” said the woman’s fatal accident solicitor.
He added, “We are continuing to work on behalf of [the deceased’s] family to secure the vital financial support they deserve following this tragedy and hope to bring the case to a swift conclusion.”
The steel fabrication firm in question has already received a fine of £62,000 over its health and safety breaches; however, it is likely that any fatal accident sum awarded will far outstrip this figure.
