Marlands Park Highly Commended at Sussex Heritage Trust Awards

In the current housing market, there is a pressing need for new-build developments and for ensuring that redundant agricultural buildings be restored or converted for this purpose. There must, however, be a sensitivity and awareness towards the surrounding landscape and architectural heritage, and new developments need to try to strike the right balance.

Healys are pleased to have been involved in the legal aspect of one project successful in this regard. Marlands Park, in Barns Green, Horsham, is a new, high-value development of luxury houses set within private parkland, which has recently been highly commended at the Sussex Heritage Trust Awards.

Healys would like to congratulate their client Hunter Development Holdings Ltd for this commendation. The Sussex Heritage Trust is a registered charity aiming to preserve, improve and encourage the appreciation of the architectural and natural heritage of Sussex, and the awards recognise and celebrate high quality conservation, restoration and new-build developments.

Marlands Park was found by the judges to have been:

“most successful in preserving a rural landscape and enhancing the location against a difficult planning background. This has secured the long-term integrity of the landscape and the resultant development converted from redundant farm-buildings”

Maggie Whitehurst of Healys said:

“It’s incredibly satisfying to work on the legal aspects of such a prestigious development, and one notable for being commended by the Sussex Heritage Trust. Congratulations to  Hunter Development Holdings Ltd, with whom I have worked for many years. I look forward to future successful developments.”
