Impact of Covid 19 On Visa and Leave to Remain
The Home Office have today announced a further extension of visa expiry or leave to remain. If individuals are unable to return to their home country before their leave or visa expires because of Covid 19 travel restrictions then their leave to remain or visa is to be extended to 31 May 2020.
The advice given by the Home Office is that if your leave expires between 24 January 2020 and 31 May 2020 and you are unable to leave the country because of Covid 19 travel restrictions you must make contact with the Coronavirus Immigration Team at CIH@homeoffice.gov.uk.
Where you were previously required to apply for a visa from your home country, you can now apply in-country via the online system.
Please be warned that decisions are likely to take longer because of the number of applicants affected and the shortage of staff due to self isolation.
