Home Office Temporarily Relaxes Right To Work Checks For Employers

To make it easier for employers to recruit migrant workers during the Covid 19 Pandemic, the Home Office have announced that from 30 March 2020, the following new temporary arrangements are in place.

• Employers can conduct right to work checks via video calls
• Prospective and existing employees can send scans or photos of relevant documents to employers by e-mail or mobile app, as opposed to sending original documents

All other obligations on the employers to make proper checks and keep records on the right to work of their employees remain the same.
