Vendors can compare estate agents
Anyone in the UK who has ever had trouble finding an estate agent who makes them feel confident enough to proceed with a property sale, residential conveyancing solicitor instruction and all, will be interested to hear about a new estate agent comparison website.
The site, which is for people in England and Wales, allows vendors to compare estate agents in their area, wherever they live.
Although the site is only its early days, it aims to rate estate agents on a number of criteria, from success rate, the number of transactions handled to the average time it takes to sell a flat or house. These will be recorded and reported in a monthly performance index, which will be available to all users of the site.
The best part: apparently the site is free and offers sellers residential conveyancing at a discount if they decide to contact an estate agent through the site.
“At present sellers base estate agent performance on instinct, word of mouth and how many boards they see in their local area – this just isn’t enough in today’s marketplace,” said a spokesperson for the comparison website.
Furthermore, he said, the site “provides impartial information about estate agents, regardless of whether it’s a high street brand or an online agent, national firm or independent”.
It is thought that the owners of the website will aim to make it profitable by raising revenue through advertising.
It is hoped that the site will be useful as there are currently very few online tools for comparing estate agents. However, such tools come with their own limitations, something that many users of MoneySuperMarket’s residential conveyancer comparison facility are like to have experienced firsthand.
