    Standard Visit Visa

    The standard visitor visa entitles applicants to a maximum stay up to 6 months at a time. Let our specialist immigration lawyers take care of your visa, so you can focus on your trip!

    All applicants for a standard visit visa must:

    • Be at least 18 years of age;
    • Prove intention to visit the UK;
    • Provide evidence of adequate funds for accommodation and maintenance throughout the duration of the stay, and a return or onward journey at the end of the stay;
    • Provide evidence of any business, educational or other activities planned in the UK, as a different type of visit visa may be necessary.

    Family Visit Visa

    All family visit visa applicants must show they are visiting a family member in the UK alongside the following requirements:

    • You must be over 18
    • Applicant must show a genuine visit and intention to leave at the end of the stay
    • Must show adequate maintenance and accommodation or show relatives who are able to support or house you
    • The applicant must show that certain family members live in the UK with citizenship or are settled in the UK

    Business Visit Visa

    The Business Visit Visa is for individuals who wish to come to the UK for the purpose of carrying out a permitted short-term unpaid business activity.

    The Business Visit Visa is a sub-category of the Standard Visitor route, which is a route for persons who wish to visit the UK for a temporary period of up to 6 months.

    The route does not lead to settlement in the UK and all visitors must make a separate application, even when travelling as part of a group.

    Requirements for a Business Visit Visa

    In order to qualify for a Business Visit Visa you will need to satisfy UK Visas & Immigration that:

    • You are a visa national (a non-visa national can normally seek entry as a Visitor on arrival at the UK border);
    • You are genuinely seeking entry to the UK for a purpose that is permitted by the visitor routes;
    • You will not undertake any prohibited activities;
    • You have sufficient funds to cover all reasonable costs in relation to your visit (including maintenance and accommodation costs) without working or accessing public funds;
    • You will leave the UK at the end of your visit;
    • You will not live in the UK for extended periods through frequent or successive visits, or make the UK your main home;
    • Your application does not fall for refusal under the general grounds for refusal.

    Creative Visit Visa

    The Creative Visit Visa is for amateur and professional artists, entertainers and musicians (and their personal and technical staff) who wish to visit the UK to undertake permitted unpaid creative activities for a period of up to 6 months.

    The Creative Visit Visa is a sub-category of the Standard Visitor route, which is a route for persons who wish to visit the UK for a temporary period of up to 6 months.

    The route does not lead to settlement in the UK and all visitors must make a separate application, even when travelling as part of a group.

    Requirements for a Creative Visit Visa

    In order to qualify for a Creative Visit Visa you will need to satisfy UK Visas & Immigration that:

    • You are a visa national (a non-visa national can normally seek entry as a Visitor on arrival at the UK border);
    • You are genuinely seeking entry to the UK for a purpose that is permitted by the visitor routes;
    • You will not undertake any prohibited activities;
    • You have sufficient funds to cover all reasonable costs in relation to your visit (including travel, maintenance and accommodation costs) without working or accessing public funds;
    • You will leave the UK at the end of your visit;
    • You will not live in the UK for extended periods through frequent or successive visits, or make the UK your main home;
    • Your application does not fall for refusal under the general grounds for refusal.

    Study Visit Visa

    The Study Visit Visa is for individuals who wish to come to the UK for a period of study, an elective relevant to a course of study abroad or a period of research (or research tuition) that will last up to 6 months.

    The Study Visit Visa is a sub-category of the Standard Visitor route, which is a route for persons who wish to visit the UK for a temporary period of up to 6 months.

    The route does not lead to settlement in the UK and all visitors must make a separate application, even when travelling as part of a group.

    Requirements for a Study Visit Visa

    In order to qualify for a Study Visit Visa you will need to satisfy UK Visas & Immigration that:

    • You are a visa national (a non-visa national can normally seek entry as a Visitor on arrival at the UK border);
    • You are genuinely seeking entry to the UK for a purpose that is permitted by the visitor routes;
    • You satisfy the additional eligibility requirements applicable for visitors coming to the UK to study for up to 6 months;
    • You will not undertake any prohibited activities;
    • You have sufficient funds to cover all reasonable costs in relation to your visit (including travel, maintenance and accommodation costs) without working or accessing public funds;
    • You will leave the UK at the end of your visit;
    • You will not live in the UK for extended periods through frequent or successive visits, or make the UK your main home;
    • Your application does not fall for refusal under the general grounds for refusal.

    Sports Visit Visa 

    The Sports Visit Visa is for amateur and professional sportspersons (individuals and teams), technical or support staff of sportspersons and sports officials who wish to visit the UK to undertake permitted unpaid sporting activities for a period of up to 6 months.

    The Sports Visit Visa is a sub-category of the Standard Visitor route, which is a route for persons who wish to visit the UK for a temporary period of up to 6 months.

    The route does not lead to settlement in the UK and all visitors must make a separate application, even when travelling as part of a group.

    Requirements for a Sports Visit Visa

    In order to qualify for a Sports Visit Visa you will need to satisfy UK Visas & Immigration that:

    • You are a visa national (a non-visa national can normally seek entry as a Visitor on arrival at the UK border);
    • You are genuinely seeking entry to the UK for a purpose that is permitted by the visitor routes;
    • You will not undertake any prohibited activities;
    • You have sufficient funds to cover all reasonable costs in relation to your visit (including travel, maintenance and accommodation costs) without working or accessing public funds;
    • You will leave the UK at the end of your visit;
    • You will not live in the UK for extended periods through frequent or successive visits, or make the UK your main home;
    • Your application does not fall for refusal under the general grounds for refusal.

    Medical Treatment and Organ Donation Visit Visa

    The Medical Treatment and Organ Donation Visit Visa is for individuals who wish to receive private medical treatment, act as an organ donor or be assessed as a potential organ donor to an identified recipient in the UK.

    The Medical Treatment and Organ Donation Visit Visa is a sub-category of the Standard Visitor route, which is a route for persons who wish to visit the UK for a temporary period.  A Visitor who is coming to the UK for medical treatment may be granted entry clearance for up to either 6 or 11 months.

    The route does not lead to settlement in the UK and all visitors must make a separate application, even when travelling as part of a group.

    Requirements for a Medical Treatment and Organ Donation Visit Visa

    In order to qualify for a Medical Treatment and Organ Donation Visit Visa you will need to satisfy UK Visas & Immigration that:

    • You are a visa national (a non-visa national can normally seek entry as a Visitor on arrival at the UK border);
    • You are genuinely seeking entry to the UK for a purpose that is permitted by the visitor routes;
    • You will not undertake any prohibited activities;
    • You have sufficient funds to cover all reasonable costs in relation to your visit (including travel, maintenance and accommodation costs) without working or accessing public funds;
    • You will leave the UK at the end of your visit;
    • You will not live in the UK for extended periods through frequent or successive visits, or make the UK your main home;
    • Your application does not fall for refusal under the general grounds for refusal.

    Marriage or Civil Partnership Visit Visa

    The Marriage or Civil Partnership Visit Visa is designed for individuals who wish to visit the UK to marry or form a civil partnership, or give notice of a marriage or civil partnership, in the UK.

    The route does not lead to settlement in the UK and all visitors must make a separate application, even when travelling as part of a group.

    Requirements for a Marriage or Civil Partnership Visit Visa

    In order to qualify for a Marriage or Civil Partnership Visit Visa you will need to satisfy UK Visas & Immigration that:

    • You are at least 18 years old;
    • You intend to give notice of marriage or civil partnership in the UK or intend to marry or form a civil partnership in the UK, within six months of your arrival;
    • You are in a genuine rather than a sham relationship;
    • You are genuinely seeking entry to the UK for a purpose that is permitted by the visitor routes;
    • You will not undertake any prohibited activities;
    • You have sufficient funds to cover all reasonable costs in relation to your visit (including travel, maintenance and accommodation costs) without working or accessing public funds;
    • You will visit the UK for less than 6 months and leave the UK at the end of your visit;
    • You will not live in the UK for extended periods through frequent or successive visits, or make the UK your main home;
    • Your application does not fall for refusal under the general grounds for refusal.

    Permitted Paid Engagement (PPE) Visit Visa

    The Permitted Paid Engagement (PPE) Visit Visa is available to certain professionals and experts who wish to visit the UK for up to 1 month in order to undertake a paid engagement relating to their expertise and occupation.

    The Permitted Paid Engagement Visa route does not lead to settlement in the UK and all visitors must make a separate application, even when travelling as part of a group.

    Requirements for a Permitted Paid Engagement Visit Visa

    In order to qualify for a Permitted Paid Engagement Visit Visa you will need to satisfy UK Visas & Immigration that:

    • You are at least 18 years old;
    • You are a visa national (a non-visa national can normally seek entry as a Visitor on arrival at the UK border);
    • You intend to do one (or more) of the permitted paid engagements set out in the Immigration Rules;
    • Your permitted paid engagement is pre-arranged, evidenced by a formal invitation from a UK-based organisation or client and relates to your area of expertise and occupation overseas;
    • You will not undertake any prohibited activities;
    • You have sufficient funds to cover all reasonable costs in relation to your visit (including travel, maintenance and accommodation costs) without working or accessing public funds;
    • You will leave the UK at the end of your visit;
    • You will not live in the UK for extended periods through frequent or successive visits, or make the UK your main home;
    • Your application does not fall for refusal under the general grounds for refusal.
